ArmInfo. Armenia was recognized winner among countries of Europe and Central Asia in Global Inclusion Awards 2016 organized by Child & Youth Finance International by the level of financial education of youth. The press-service of the Central Bank of Armenia has told ArmInfo that the award was handed to the Central Bank's Consumer Rights Protection and Financial Literacy Center in Sweden on November 28.
According to the source 150 representatives from 45 countries were nominated for the award. The main goal of the competition was to recognize and honor those that achieve greatness and demonstrate innovation in financial, social and livelihoods education, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurial support for children and youth at the national, regional and international level. Armenia was awarded for the nation-wide program on the integration of financial education in the school curriculum, and for organization of "My Finance Month", which, with the support of other institutions, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of personal finance management. In overall in 2016 70000 students, schoolchildren, villagers were involved in those programs.
Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) is one of the leading international organizations that works to provide children and youth around the world with access to financial services, enhance their awareness of economic rights, and empower them to build their assets, invest in their future, and ultimately break the cycle of poverty. More than 36 mln students have been involved in the organization's programs.
