ArmInfo. Armenia's Minister of Agriculture Ignatiy Arakelyan discussed with US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills and Head of USAID Yerevan Office Deborah Grieser prospects and the process of implementation of Armenian-US joint programs in the field of agriculture.
Ignatiy Arakelyan highly assessed US government's efforts and provided assistance in development of agriculture in Armenia, the press-service of the Ministry informs.
Ambassador Mills in turn noted that the US government attaches importance to multi-year cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia, the main goal of which is to improve economic situation and ensure social guarantees for rural population of the country. "We realize that Armenia's agricultural field has rich potential. We are ready to make our contribution in ensuring development of the country's economy within the upcoming years, the US diplomat stated emphasizing that expects continuation of close cooperation in the field.
The sides also touched upon issues of ensuring high-quality professional education in agriculture. In this context the importance of "Agro Business Training Center" and opportunities for its further financing were emphasized. The Minister and the US Ambassador discussed prospects of introducing institute of agricultural insurance, necessity of efficient use of resources in water supply systems and a number of other issues of mutual interest.
