ArmInfo. Armenia has completed the construction of the gas distribution network in Meghri and Agarak communities near the Armenian-Iranian border, according to the Armenian Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources.
The source says that the whole town of Meghri and part of the town of Agarak will be supplied with gas. The relevant permits are currently being provided for the use of the gas network and connection of new consumers to the network.
To recall, in 2011 Armenia and Iran signed a Memorandum of Understanding, under which Iran granted 2 mln USD to Armenia for implementation of the project. Armenia, in turn, exempted the companies supplying goods, equipment and services from customs duties. Earlier, the project was suspended because Iran suspended the funding. The operations were resumed in late 2015.
