ArmInfo. The construction of Noraduz-Vorotan 1 HVL to be finalized in first half of 2017. This was stated by the press office of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT of Armenia.
According to the source, the project is implemented under funding of International bank for Reconstruction and Development. The high voltage line, with 230 km length, will cover the route Noraduz- Vardenis-Vayk-Vorotan 1. The main works under the project are already finished. The HVL will connect two power generating units - Hrazdan TPP and Vorotan HPP Cascade. The project implementation will improve the reliability of the energy network of the country, will increase its capacities from current 250 mWt up to 310 mWt. The technical parameters will also be improved, and the losses will decrease from 1,6% to 0,7%.
Due to assets saved 110 kW Lalvar and Noyemberyan HVL-s, being operated since 1962, will also be put under rehabilitation. The company of Gam Arak was the winner of international bidding , held in August this year, becoming the contractor for USD 4,4 mln works. The design works are planned to be finalized next year and to get to construction works.
As ArmInfo has informed previously, on June 1, 2011 the International Bank on Reconstruction and Development (under hierarchy of the World Bank), and Armenian Government signed a Borrowing Agreement on Power Supply Reliability, assuming USD 39 mln loan assets allocation. The project purpose is to improve the reliability of the power supply for customers, to decrease the number of disconnections and to increase the sustainability of Armenian energy system. To reach the objectives set forth by the project, it is decidesd to put under rehabilitation all the physically worn above ground lines, mounted in 1950-es.
