ArmInfo. Two or three airline companies may enter Armenian market in 2017, Head of General Department of Civil Aviation of Armenia Sergey Avetisyan stated at the government's session on December 29.
According to Avetisyan the Department has made proposals for cooperation to more than 40 airline companies, mainly European ones. Proposals were sent to airline companies from Asia, as well as the Middle East. "At the moment 3-4 companies have already responded stating about their plans to hold more detailed negotiations on technical issues in the nearest future. We have expressed our readiness and I think that progress will be achieved on this issue in 2017", Avetisyan said.
Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapwtyan urged to keep the process under control, stressing that it is very important for the country.
The session also announced introduction of productive system of management in the field of civil aviation and necessity to ensure uninterrupted work of the field. It is also planned to modernize and introduce online system of providing permissions for flights. As a result the list of necessary documents will be shortened and the procedure of providing permissions will be facilitated.
To note according to the General Department of Civil Aviation passenger flow through Yerevan Zvartnots international airport will exceed 2 mln at the year-end 2016. As of today the following companies carry out air transportation to Armenia: "Armenia", Aegean Airways, Georgian Airways, Iraqi Airways, Al Naser, Mahan Air, Middle East airways, S7 Airlines, Czech, LOT, Russian "Saratov airline company" and"Ural Arilines", Nordwind Airlines, "Pegas Fly", "UTair", "Pobeda" Russian low-cost company.
