Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Ignati Arakelyan has participated in the 9th meeting of Agriculture Ministers "Agriculture and Water - Key to Feeding the World", Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) and international Green Week Berlin exhibition, the press service of the Ministry informs.
During the 9th meeting of Agriculture Ministers attended by Ministers from more than 80 countries issues of water resources management and their sustainable use were discussed. The importance of ensuring water availability, use of water saving technologies was also emphasized. A communique was adopted at the end of the summit and the participants of the meeting were urged to achieve implementation of the proposed provisions on national levels.
Within Global Forum for Food and Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan held meetings with his counterparts from Lithuania, Slovenia and Georgia and discussed issues of developing relations in the field of agriculture. Arakelyan discussed with Director General of UN Food and Agriculture Organization Jose Graziano Da Silva programs being implemented and planned for implementation in Armenia.
Armenian Agriculture Minister also met with Peter Bleser, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany. During the meeting the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. Peter Bleser informed that he intends to visit Armenia in June in order to get familiar with the prospects of cooperation between the two countries. Meetings were held with the representatives of German companies producing agricultural equipment. Minister Arakelyan presented proposals on modernization of agricultural equipment in Armenia.
