ArmInfo. Within the improvement of Armenian export-import cargo transportation and increase of the railway transport competitiveness, The South Caucasus Railway JSC states the tariffs reduction for direct and international railway-ferry routes at the of Caucasus-Poti.
According to the information of the press office of SCRW, the discounts for the transportation from Armenia per one wagon/ferry will form USD 2000 in average. Such reduction became possible due to SCRW purchase of certain number of cells on the ferry working on the route mentioned, and due to the negotiations with international partners on simplification of transportations. The discounts offered will give an option to decrease the final prices of goods, which is profitable both for Armenian consumers and domestic manufacturers.
"Discounts are differentiated and will be set individually for every kind of cargo. According to certain categories the tariffs will be decreased for 80%. For instance, the transportation of one wagon of perlite will cost at USD 1 000, and one wagon of juices and mineral waters - USD 1,3. To mention, previously the price of one wagon regardless of the load character formed USD 5 000," Dmitri Gvozdev, the head of transportation service of SCRW said.
According to the source, the discounts offered will cover not only the cargo carriers implementing transportations from Russia addressed to Armenia, but also for the cargo transported from Russia to iran through the territory of Armenia.
To mention, the transportations within the communication of Caucasus-Poti starting with February 10 will be implemented once in a month and without any delays due to weather conditions, like it uses to happen at the Upper Lars Checkpoint.
