WB is ready to support Armenia in disaster risk management

ArmInfo. The World Bank  expressed readiness to support Armenia in disaster risk management  works. The WB representative and Specialist of Risk Management  Tafadzwe Dube told Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Urban  Planning Armen Gularyan

As the State Committee' press-service told ArmInfo, within the  framework of the meeting the parties discussed the directions of the  National Program for Disaster Risk Management.

Considering the existing risks for technogenic and seismic disasters  in Armenia, A. Gularyan noted the importance of Earthquake  Engineering provision. In this light he said that the Asian  Development Bank (ADB) jointly with WB are implementing the  "Improvement of the seismic safety of schools in Armenia" program. At  the same time Gularyan presented a number of valid normative  documents that is needed to review, which is one of the main tasks of  the Committee in 2017. 

According to source, for further work proceeding, by the end of the  meeting it was decided to present suggestions and modify a relevant  schedule.
