ArmInfo. Stavropol International Airport is going to launch air communication with Yerevan in 2017.
Nikolay Apalkov, the director general of the airport, says that four new destinations will be included in the Stavropol International Airport's schedule in 2017. The matter concerns regular flights to St. Petersburg, Yerevan, as well as summer flights to Simferopol and Thessalonica, Interfax-Yug reports. He notes that the new flights will be launched in May-June 2017.
To recall, on Oct 23, 2013, the Armenian Government approved a program on provision of competitive and long-term air services in Armenia, based on the open skies policy to facilitate the communication with the external world, thereby creating additional stimuli for the economic growth of Armenia. However, at the first stage of the program, a number of giants of global aviation (including Czech Airlines and Etihad Airways) left the Armenian market, while the number of Russian and CIS companies grew.
