ArmInfo. An Armenian business delegation headed by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan will visit Iran in March 2017. Mehr reports that yesterday Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan met with Head of Tehran's Chamber of Commerce of Industry Masoud Khansari. The sides discussed the upcoming visit of Karen Karapetyan to Tehran.
"As soon as the Prime Minister's visit to Tehran is completely prepared, the Iranian Chamber of Commerce will organize bilateral meetings between the Iranian and Armenian businessmen," Masoud Khansari said.
He stressed that the ICT cooperation is quite good and that his Armenian counterpart will have an opportunity to establish contacts with Iranian companies in this field.
Artashes Tumanyan, in turn, noted that the Armenian Prime Minister's visit will be conducted within the arrangements reached between the two countries' presidents. "The visit will take place in the near future, probably even before the New Year holidays in Iran, which will start on March 21," he said.
According to the National Statistics Service of Armenia, in Jan-Dec 2016 the Armenia-Iran foreign trade turnover amounted to $238.9 mln (down 14.7% versus Jan-Dec 2015). Exports totaled $74.8 mln (down 8.4%), and imports - $164.1 mln (down 17.3%). In 2015, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iran dropped by 5.2%, with exports falling by 8.2% and imports - by 3.9%.
