ArmInfo. In Jan 2017, cargo traffic in Armenia increased by 93.8% versus Jan 2016, and totaled 1 600.1 thsd tons, including 1 178.7 thsd tons (73.6% of total cargo traffic) in motor transportation, which grew 2.3-fold versus Jan 2016, according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
In Jan 2017, railway traffic grew by 35.9% to 184.6 thsd tons, air traffic rose by 28.6% to 0.9 thsd tons. The natural gas supplied through the main pipeline made up 235.9 thsd tons, 27.7% more than in Jan 2016. In Jan 2017 the cargo turnover grew by 30% to 463 mln tons/km.
The passenger traffic dropped by 4.5% to 14 439.6 thsd people. The passenger operations by car fell by 5.2% to 13 005.2 thsd people and passenger traffic by rail dropped by 5.6% to 23.9 thsd people. Passenger traffic by electrical transport grew by 0.9% to 1 237,5 thsd people, while passenger traffic by air rose by 24.2% to 173.3 thsd people. The passenger turnover decreased by 1.8% to 185.1 mln passengers per km.
