Armenia is intended to support Iran and EEU initiative to create a Free Economic Zone by certain mechanisms

ArmInfo. During the visit of Iranian  President  Hassan Rouhani to Russia by the end of this month parties  will discuss the issue  of setting free economic zone  between EEU  and Iran. This is  stated by Iran Daily  with a reference to  Russian  trade representative in Iran Andrey Luganski. Meanwhile, Diplomat  stated that Iran intention to export fruits and vegetables to Russia  is a reason   for concerns, because the tax free import of such  precuts might initiate a competition with  local products. Besides,  Iran is concerned that the import of a number of Russian machinery  products could support the competition with more expensive local  products.

To mention, from March 12 to 14 in Tehran a regular session of  EEU  countries and  Iran economic entities representatives took place.  According to the information of the Ministry of Economy and  Investments of Armenia,  Hovhannes Azizyan also  participated in the  session. Parties discussed the the text of Agreement and the roster  of products to be included in the list of goods subject for tariff  bonuses. Consultations on this issue will be continued.

During the meetings with  his Iranian colleagues, Armenian Deputy  Minister offered to Iranian side to review the issue on setting of  joint Impex company to support the export of the products, including  the duty free market. According to the statement, Iranian side  encouraged this idea and suggested to develop certain tools for  implementation of  it.

To remind, at the session of EEU Intergovernmental Board on March in  Bishkek, the  Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan mentioned  the importance of implementation of trade negotiations  between EEU-  third countries. In this context Armenia stated its readiness to  promote the negotiations process between EEU-Iran.
