ArmInfo. Armenia attaches importance to the implementation of a coordinated policy in the field of information technologies within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan stated this on March 24, taking the leaders of the information technology sector of the member countries of the EEU, who arrived in Armenia to participate in the working meeting.
As the press service of the government told ArmInfo, representatives of the IT sector of the EEU countries noted that such meetings are a good platform for discussing issues of development of the sphere and forming the bases for the development of the economy as a separate country and the whole Union. It is planned that during the working meeting the issues of digital economic transformation and cooperation in IT sphere will be discussed. The agenda also includes discussions on the creation of coordinating bodies in the countries of the Union.
It should be noted that according to the estimates of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, the turnover of 540 companies involved in the sphere of 2014 amounted to $ 500 million, with an average growth of almost 20%. At the end of the year, this branch of the economy provided about 6% of Armenia's GDP. Earlier it was reported that in the near future in the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia it is planned to discuss a comprehensive program for the development of the IT sphere.
