ArmInfo. On March 30, Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan instructed to consider the possibilities of using alternative energy in the currently not gasified settlements of Armenia.
The prime minister recalled that he repeatedly spoke about the unprecedented high level of Armenia's gasification for a country that does not have internal energy resources, at 94-96%. At the same time, Karapetyan noted, following the results of the interviews with the citizens, it became clear that in the regions that are not yet gasified, there are issues of ensuring the basic heating conditions.
In this light, Karen Karapetyan instructed the heads of the relevant communities and departments to submit to the Government in a month the generalized information on the regions in need, as well as to calculate the costs for the necessary gasification. At the same time, as an alternative, the prime minister called for considering alternative ways of providing energy by conducting a comparative calculation of alternative energy supplies like solar batteries, pellet heating boilers, etc. As a result, submit to the government apparatus the most favorable options for both the consumer and the supplier. "According to my preliminary calculations, the picture is as follows: in the not yet gasified settlements there are unlikely to be areas where there is a logic to lay new gas pipes, because if it was logical and stipulated in the tariff, I think the process would have been long gone," said the Prime Minister. Proceeding from this, he urged to consider all possible options and choose the best for each region.
