ArmInfo. In the countries of the Silk Road, they intend to implement the program for the development of the tourist product "Wine Tourism". This became known during the meeting of the working group of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which was held from 29 March to 1 April in Valencia, Spain.
The first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Armenia Mekhak Apresyan made this proposal to UNWTO, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and other countries of the Silk Road, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economic Development and Investments told ArmInfo, having received the approval of the participants.
According to the source, Apresyan held a number of meetings with officials of the tourism industry. In particular, with the UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai, Apresyan discussed Armenia's participation in the May meeting of the UNWTO Executive Council, and a number of other issues. As a result, the sides reached an agreement on the publication on the official website of the organization of the events of Armenia within the framework of the Silk Road, including information on traditional festivals. The director of the "Tripadvisor" world site, Helen Egani, discussed the possibilities of more active dissemination of information about Armenia and the Armenian tourist product. Daniela Wagner, responsible for the international relations of the website of the business communities of the "Connecting Travel" tourism industry, discussed the possibilities of representing Armenia and the Armenian tourist product in the UK, the formation and prospects for the development of ties between Armenian and British representatives of the private sector.
During the event, participants discussed current programs aimed at sustainable development of tourism in the countries of the Silk Road, particularly in the western part of the Silk Road, and summed up the results of the Seventh Silk Road Tourism Ministers' Meeting, held on March 8 at the ITB Berlin exhibition.
