During Q1 of 2017 total extent of investments in Armenian economy totaled $65 mln, 1800 jobs were created, Suren Karayan, Armenian Economic Development and Investments Minister stated during the working session at Prime-Minister Karen Karapetyan's office dedicated to economic development of the country and investments involvement.
According to him, 5 priority issues are to be solved in 2017 and 18 events to be implemented. Investment programs list is formed based on organizations and sources of funding. For the beginning of the year, 62 investment programs are being developed and implemented. The Minister added there is a necessity to delay some of these programs to 2018-2019. Also some projects on separate areas are being implemented. Karayan noted that 4 from 11 programs are funded, as to others the works are continuing. The Minister stressed that in 2017 investments of $460 mln sum are going to be implemented, which will allow to create additional 7500 jobs.
In his turn, the Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan stressed the importance of light industries development and increasing the effectiveness of system ruling. He ordered to analyze and present report on creating jobs and expecting extents of investments in this sphere. "This year, if we do good, we will create at least 1 thousand jobs in light industry sector regardless of 7500 jobs and investments of $ 460 mln", the Prime Minister said.
Earlier Karen Karapetyan noted that the Government reviewed 471investment programs, 345 of which are considered realistic. General investment program price is $2.4 bln. The Government thinks it is possible to implement programs at of $830-850 mln amount in 2017.
