ArmInfo. The metallurgy industry of Armenia in the first quarter of 2017 has grown from last year's recession. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in the reporting period, the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia increased by 38.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, amounting to 1,681 tones, against the decline by 15.8% in 2016. Only for March ferromolybdenum was produced 706 tons, which is 23.2% more than the February volume.
In the first three months, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 13.6% to 2,825 tones, against a decline by 12.5% of 2016. Only in March, production increased by 19.3% to 1021 tons. The production of converter (rough) copper, on the contrary, decreased by 13.4% to 2,914 tons, against the growth of 39.2% a year earlier, with a monthly growth of 20.3% up to 997 tons. The production of copper concentrate increased by 9.7% to 101.9 thousand tons, against growth of 33.4% a year earlier. In the monthly section (March to February), the production of copper concentrate increased by 20.1% to 38.3 thousand tons. The production of zinc concentrate increased by 27.6% per annum in the first quarter of 2017, to 2170 tons, against the 52% decline the year before. In March, the production of zinc concentrate increased by 4.2% to 923 tons.
The production of aluminum foil in the I quarter of 2017, compared with the same period of the previous year, increased by 1.4% to 7305 tons, against the 9.7% decline the year before. In March, the volume of aluminum foil production increased by 16.2% to 2501 tons. The production of aluminum rolled products for the reporting period was 57 tons, with annual growth of 19 times, against the decline of 66.7% a year earlier. Only in March, the volume of aluminum rolled products dropped sharply from 52 to 5 tons.
The production of steel pipes in the first quarter of 2017, compared with the same period in 2016, increased by 88.5% to 2,025 tons against the decline of 59.4% in 2016, but only in March there was a decline of 23.8% to 876 tons.
Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes in statistics of I quarter of this year are not know, while a year earlier in the same period the volume was 185 tons.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
