ArmInfo. Businessmen from Iranian province of Markazi are interested in making investments in Armenian economy. This was stated by jafar Afshun, the Vice Governor of the province during the session of central Iran Export Improvement working team.
According to Artashes Tumanyan, the Ambassador of Armenia Iran, quoted by IRNA agency, Armenia, becoming an EEU member, could be the gate for Iran to enter 180-million market of EEU. Tumanyan mentioned also an option for Iranian entrepreneurs assuming the tax free entrance to EEU market. "Proceeding of this, Armenia and IRI should use this opportunity and expand economic cooperation," diplomat mentioned.
Artashes Tumanyan invite the attention of Iranian businessmen to three FEZ existing in Armenia. Besides, he presented the advantages that RA possesses within the framework of GSP+ preferential mood rendered by EEU (which gives an option to Armenia to export 6400 titles of products without any customs fees). As Tumanyan mentioned, the high level of political relations is not supported with appropriate level of economic cooperation. For now, the turnover between two countries forms about USD 300 mln, but the potentioal, according to Tumanyan, is much larger.
According to Reza Djafari, the Director of Chamber of Commerce of the province mentioned, it is necessary to estimate the exporting potential of Markazi province in respect to Armenia. Within this, he offered to form a working team to visit Armenia in the nearest future. -v- According to the National Statistics Service of RA, in January-December 2016 the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iran formed USD 238, 9 mln.
