ArmInfo. On May 20, Armavir team of students won the annual contest organized by the Central Bank Month of My Finance and Youth Achievement SO program, which is aimed at increasing financial literacy among the population.
Schoolchildren of Armavir region fought for the championship with teams from Gegharkunik and Syunik areas. According to Maryam Ter-Sahakyan, Armenian Central Bank public relations expert at the Center for Consumer Protection and Financial Literacy, participants were asked more difficult and interesting questions than a year ago, and they gave answers easily. "This shows that every year children come more and more prepared," she said.
Head of the Center for Protection of Consumer Rights and Financial Literacy of the Central Bank of Armenia Armenuhi Mkrtchyan noted that the contest for schoolchildren has been held for the 5th consecutive year, involving 10 regions of Armenia and Yerevan. "In total, schoolchildren from 150 schools of Armenia competed for participation in the semifinal. In addition to the financial segment, this year included issues related to the environment, "she said.
Answering ArmInfo' question, she noted that this year the number of willing to participate the events held within the My Month of Finance program has significantly increased. "It was an unexpected surprise for us, as previously we had to" force "to talk about finance. In the same year - there was a significant progress in terms of increased interest and personal initiative of the population to discuss the given topic, asking questions of interest, and receiving answers, "she said, referring to meetings in the" anti-cafe "format. According to Mkrtchyan, the results of My Month of Finance program will be summed up in mid-June 2017.
To note, by the initiative of CB, the program of "month of my finances" started since October 1, 2014. The program is aimed at increasing confidence in finances among public and strengthening of knowledge in sector of finances.
