ArmInfo. Today, officials should seriously consider implementing a set of measures for the development of the construction industry, volumes of which in Armenia continue to decline. This was stated by ACB ex head, economist Bagrat Asatryan during the press conference on May 24.
In this regard, he explained: "If the agro-industry or the industry comes out to 10% growth - this will appear insignificant increase of jobs. It is the construction sector that plays a decisive role in providing employment in Armenia. "
He stressed that already in Q1 2017 the construction sector demonstrated an annual decline of 13.6%, with already low volume of this sphere in GDP structure. In his opinion, the construction sector plays a significant role in attracting investments, which promote economic development in general.
What is to investments, Asatryan added that this year investment projects will be implemented in various areas, but he expressed doubt about further positive effect for the economy due to insecurity of investments. "In Armenia, the oligarchic system is maintained, and political illiteracy has never been so much shown as today. Investment projects will be implemented. But whether it will be possible at the expense of this to achieve development is a big question," the expert said.
