A memorandum on mutual understanding is signed between Armenia and Iran aimed at activization of cooperation between the countries.The document is signed by the executive director of Development Fund of Armenia Armen Avagyan and the chairman of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization Mojtaba Khosrotaj.
According to the Fund statement, in October 2016 18 Armenian companies in Teheran within Armenian Expo were doing negotiations on increasing export extents of Armenian production and services. It was then when the issue of the supply regime simplification of Armenian production to Iranian market. "Last year Armenian producers participating the exhibition, faced number of procedural problems, related to receiving additional allowances on supply of the production. This procedure is pretty difficult and long on terms", Armen Avagyan stressed. In his turn, Mojtaba Khosrotadj noted that Iran is ready to settle all existing problems. "I think, state entities should create correspondent infrastructures for investments in Armenia and Iran and increasing extents of bilateral trade turnover", Mojtaba Khosrotadj said.
At the request of his colleague, the head of the Fund presented perspective spheres where it is possible to make investments - information technologies, tourism, processing of agricultural products, textiles, jewelry. During the meeting, the issue of high customs duties on the Armenian products entering Iranian market was also raised. In some cases, the fee is 100 percent or more. At present, negotiations are underway to reduce these rates for Armenian products by 37 items. At the suggestion of the Iranian side, the Development Fund of Armenia will assist in holding the exhibition of Iranian goods in Yerevan.
