ArmInfo. Center of Excellence opening took place in Polytechnic University. The center was co-founded by Schneider Electric, the world-renowned French company and Russia-based Tashir Group of Companies. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan also participated the opening ceremony, according to the head of the state press service.
Accompanied by RA Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan, Tashir Group President Samvel Karapetyan, Schneider Electric Company President for the CIS Johan Vanderplaets, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Electric Networks of Armenia Karen Darbinyan, other officials, and French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpente, the President of the Republic made a tour of the new center, inspecting the work done so far, the conditions and the possibilities of this state-of-the-art high-tech center.
The Center of Excellence is being opened in Yerevan in the presence of President of Armenia three months after the signing in Paris of a memorandum of cooperation between Electric Networks of Armenia, a subsidiary of Tashir Group, and the French Company. The memorandum was signed on March 8, 2017 on the sidelines of President Serzh Sargsyan's official visit to France. According to Schneider Electric Company President for the CIS Johan Vanderplaets statement, already in Yerevan while signing the memorandum on cooperation in Armenian National Polytechnic Institute, any company which plans to work successfully, has one global problem-the lack of engineers. "which is why it is profitable for us to cooperate with first-rate universities that prepare highly qualified personnel who, being familiar with the technology, with our company, may become employees of Schneider Electric in the future, "he said. It is also important that Armenia is the only country in the region that has gained such trust. There are no agreements on cooperation with Schneider Electric either in Azerbaijan or Georgia. Among the partner universities, in addition to Russian universities, only the universities of Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
