ArmInfo. The Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia initiates setting of a separate entity on agricultural products export coordination. " The pilot project will be launched by the end of 2017, and is aimed to implement the full range of tasks by early 2018," Robert Makaryan, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, stated on June 7 at a press conference.
According to Deputy Minister, the main target of the entity will be the support to agricultural processing entities in expanding and promoting the products at external markets. This entity is set to consolidate, to create whole the export supplies chain - starting with production cycle and up to the exit to markets. The products will be manufactured under one single brand, but the products will be marked with the label of manufacturing company. After the entity becomes sustainable, the authorities wil step aside. " During several years the authorities will provide help to SME to bring their production in accordance with international standards and norm," Robert Makaryan stated.
According to Deputy Minister's notes, the main sales market for Armenian agricultural production is still Russia - in 2017 about 31,5 thousand tons of fresh fruits and vegetables were shipped to Russian markets. For today, approximately 17 thousand tons of tomatoes were exported as well. In 15-20 days the apricot exporting process is expected to be launched. The Vice Minister avoided making any forecasts, and stated only that, "normal volumes of export will be reached if the weather does not deliver any surprises."
