ArmInfo. In the city of Ashtarak, Aragatseton region, the scientific and production center of organic agricultural products "Agrolog" was opened. This is stated in the official message of the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia.
According to the source, 30 June marked the Official Opening of the Agrolog Organic Educational Production Center in Aragatsotn region of Armenia. The Organic Center is an initiative of Agrolog CJSC - one of the Organic Agriculture Support Initiative (OASI) grant beneficiaries which is funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by the Austrian Development Agency.
Agrolog aims to promote the organic agriculture in Armenia and to share experiences in this area with the beginners. The company's activities cover the entire value-chain, starting from the soil up to the end consumer. The team of Agrolog is ready for any cooperation in this field, which will help farmers from various rural communities to produce natural organic Armenian food and increase their income.
In the audience, among local and foreign guests were Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mr. Armen Harutyunyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Piotr Antoni Switalski, Head of the Office for Technical Cooperation of the Austrian Embassy in Yerevan Mr. Gerhard Schaumberger, as well as the local governor Mr. Gabriel Gyozalyan.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony and the official welcome remarks by the honoured guests, the Director of Agrolog CJSC Mr. Tigran Tsaturyan presented the grant project called "Turning the Potential of Armenian Agriculture into Opportunities: Establishment of an Educational and Production Centre of Organic Food in Ashtarak" and showed the Centre with its training facilities, greenhouse, production center, cold storage and organic retail outlet.
The Official Opening was followed by an Organic Armenian Food Fair and Exhibition from over 50 organic producers, which will continue also on Saturday, 1 July.
