The longest reverse ropeway in the world, which entered the Guinness Book of Records "Wings of Tatev", leading to the medieval monastery of Tatev, in just one day on July 16, carried 1371 passengers, breaking the record recorded on July 20, 2014 with the number of visitors of 1321 people. If in the first year of operation of the ropeway in 2010 the number of passengers was 10 thousand, by the end of 2016 this figure exceeded 505 thousand people.
Engineering structure The Tatev Ropeway, named "Wings of Tatev", extends 5.7 km over the deep and picturesque gorge of the Vorotan River, connecting two villages: Halidzor (not far from the Yerevan highway) and Tatev, where the recently restored monastery complex of the 9th-10th centuries stands.
The official opening of the ropeway was held in October 2010 with the assistance of the "Tatev Revival" and "Armenian Development Initiative" funds.
