ArmInfo. Armenia is ready to contribute in every way to the development of cooperation between Iran and the EEU, said Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in an interview with the Iranian newspaper Sharh.
According to the President, Armenia has repeatedly noted that it is ready to contribute in every way to the development of cooperation between Iran and the EEU. Armenia, as Sargsyan stated, within the framework of the EEU initiated discussions over the establishment of a preferential trade regime with Iran, as a result of which negotiations are already underway. The head of the republic expressed his confidence that this cooperation could be beneficial for all parties, opening for Iranian goods an outlet to the market with 180 million people. Members of the EEU, in turn, will have the opportunity to present their goods in preferential mode on the Iranian market, he noted.
Referring to the Armenia-EU relations, the President stressed that the RA does not oppose them to the relations with the EEU. "Armenia is the shortest and safest land route connecting Iran with Europe, Armenia has close partner relations with the EU and we are ready to provide the platform to Iranian and European entrepreneurs for the development of mutually beneficial activities," Sargsyan said. The head of state reminded that within the framework of the GSP + preferential trade regime with the European Union several thousand items of Armenian goods can be exported to the EU at zero customs duty. This circumstance, according to Serzh Sargsyan, can also serve as an additional incentive for Iranian investors in the development of activities in Armenia.
