Armenian Energy Ministry: in November, first supplies of equipment for the implementation of the program for the extension of life of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant power unit

ArmInfo. In November of this  year, will start first supplies of equipment necessary for the  implementation of the program to extend the life of power unit N2 of  Armenian nuclear power plant. This was reported by Head of Energy  Department of Armenian Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural  Resources Hayk Badalyan, whose words are quoted by the press service  of the ministry.

According to the head of the department, in order to supply the main  equipment, competitions and work on signing contracts are currently  being held. In the first half of this year, between the authorized  organizations, 16 contracts for the supply of equipment have been  concluded. All agreements are directed to the approval of financial  departments of Armenia and Russia. "The draft law" on decommissioning  of the first power unit of the Armenian NPP "and the investment plan  for the implementation of the project for the extension of the  lifetime of the second power unit of the ANPP, as well as the program  of measures coming out of the plan, which are submitted to the  government for approval, are being developed," Hayk Badalyan said.

To remind,  in March of this year, it was 3 years since the decision  was taken by Armenian Government on the need to upgrade the second  station unit. The subsidiary of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy  Corporation - Rusatom Service JSC coordinates the project of  Extension of life at the Armenian NPP. State Corporation together  with the Armenian experts agreed to work on the implementation of the  project to extend the life of the nuclear power plant for 10  years-until the year 2026. Completion of work is planned for 2019.  Russia allocated a $ 270 million state export loan and a grant of $  30 million to Armenia for these purposes. In March 2015, the Joint  Coordination Committee (JCC) was established to implement the  intergovernmental agreement on extending the life of the ANPP on  December 20, 2014. In order to coordinate the project activities,  meet deadlines, evaluate the results. To date, four meetings of the  JCC have been held.
