ArmInfo. In November of this year, will start first supplies of equipment necessary for the implementation of the program to extend the life of power unit N2 of Armenian nuclear power plant. This was reported by Head of Energy Department of Armenian Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Hayk Badalyan, whose words are quoted by the press service of the ministry.
According to the head of the department, in order to supply the main equipment, competitions and work on signing contracts are currently being held. In the first half of this year, between the authorized organizations, 16 contracts for the supply of equipment have been concluded. All agreements are directed to the approval of financial departments of Armenia and Russia. "The draft law" on decommissioning of the first power unit of the Armenian NPP "and the investment plan for the implementation of the project for the extension of the lifetime of the second power unit of the ANPP, as well as the program of measures coming out of the plan, which are submitted to the government for approval, are being developed," Hayk Badalyan said.
To remind, in March of this year, it was 3 years since the decision was taken by Armenian Government on the need to upgrade the second station unit. The subsidiary of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation - Rusatom Service JSC coordinates the project of Extension of life at the Armenian NPP. State Corporation together with the Armenian experts agreed to work on the implementation of the project to extend the life of the nuclear power plant for 10 years-until the year 2026. Completion of work is planned for 2019. Russia allocated a $ 270 million state export loan and a grant of $ 30 million to Armenia for these purposes. In March 2015, the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) was established to implement the intergovernmental agreement on extending the life of the ANPP on December 20, 2014. In order to coordinate the project activities, meet deadlines, evaluate the results. To date, four meetings of the JCC have been held.
