ArmInfo. At the meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental council the issue of mutual recognition of driving licenses issued in the member states of the EAEC was discussed the day before. As the press service of the Eurasian Commission told ArmInfo, the Prime Ministers instructed the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Armenia to consult on the issue of mutual recognition of national or international driving permits issued in Russia and Armenia before August 20, 2017.
Note that since June 1 in Russia, the ban on the use of foreign driving licenses by persons working in the territory of the country in the field of transportation came into effect. The requirement to obtain Russian driver's licenses by foreigners professionally engaged in transportation does not apply to citizens of Kyrgyzstan, as well as Belarus and Kazakhstan, where Russian is the official language. Thus, changes from the member states of the EAEC do not apply only to Armenia. This decision caused serious concern of the Armenian side, as it contradicts the principles of the Unified Energy System, which provides for the creation of a single labor market.
