ArmInfo. The traffic on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan interstate highway segment will be temporarily limited.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT of Armenia, the traffic will be limited on some sections of the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan (36-57 km, Yerevan-Sevan) and 64-57 km in the direction of Sevan-Yerevan.
"The restriction for all types of vehicles will be introduced from August 28 to October 10 in connection with the repair work," the statement reads. The traffic will be organized along the opposite direction from Sevan to Yerevan.
As ArmInfo reported, August 10, Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of repair work on the route Yerevan-Sevan. "Why is the construction on the Yerevan- Sevan highway so protracted?" Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan asked at a government meeting. "On the road there is one site, passing by which in this hot summer time, you do not see a single builder - not in the morning hours, not evening," he was indignant. In response, Gagik Grigoryan, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies, said that at this stage, the bridge is under repair. "One section of the bridge has been renovated, the other - is nearing completion," he said. Work on other sections of the route will begin after August 26. "And if everything is already done on the bridge, why do not you open the bridge?" Karapetyan said.
Earlier, on May 5, the head of the Armenian Ministry of Transport Vahan Martirosyan said that in Armenia it is planned to establish a Road Fund, which will finance the repair of roads. According to him, the amount of budget financing of this program is not enough. Annually about 7.5 billion AMD are allocated for these purposes, while at least 90 billion are needed. Budget funds in winter are sent to ensure the passability of vehicles, snow cleaning, and in the summer time - to repair roads of interstate and republican importance. This year, it is envisaged to send 5bln AMD for the summer period, most of which will be used for repair of the Yerevan-Sevan highway.
