The work on implementation of the project "Old Yerevan" started in Yerevan

For this moment, land works are carried out on one of the parts of the site envisaged for this project, and on the other part - the mayor's office carries out the process of alienation and clearing of the remaining territory. ArmInfo correspondent was informed about it by the press secretary of the head of the State Committee of Town Planning of Armenia Anahit Yesayan. She also informed that soon within the framework of this program on Teryan street the construction of podzemyh plots will start.

On Abovyan street, construction works will also begin soon. The program "Old Yerevan" includes the central streets - Abovyan, Pavstos Buzand, Yeznik Kokhbatsi, Arami and the main avenue Mashtots. Note that the idea of implementing the project appeared in 2005, in 2010 it was planned to start it, but due to the crisis and the lack of funds, it was suspended. In 2014, the Government of Armenia signed an investment agreement with the Swiss investor of Armenian origin, the head of the watch company Frank Muller Vardan Sermakes on the resumption of works on the construction of this site for a total of about $ 130 million. An interdepartmental consultation was held recently with the participation of the author of the program Levon Vardanyan, headed by the chairman of the State Committee for Urban Development of the Republic of Armenia Narek Sargsyan, in order to discuss and resolve issues related to the development of the "Old Yerevan" program.

The meeting was also attended by the employees of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and the Yerevan City Hall. At the meeting, it was decided to follow the approved conceptual provisions presented by the State Committee for Urban Development of Armenia, the Ministry of Culture of the RA and the Yerevan Municipality with further implementation of the program. During the discussion it was also decided to rebuild the buildings of the N97? N25 on Buzand Street, which are currently being demolished. They decided to restore the part of the city that is part of the "Old Yerevan" project.The project "Old Yerevan" provides for the reconstruction of the architectural image of the Armenian capital of the late XIX - early XX centuries. In the center of the city will be restored several dozen buildings and architectural structures erected during this period and representing historical and cultural value.  The author of the project, architect Levon Vardanyan, stated earlier that within the framework of the reconstruction of the historic quarter, it is planned to build a trade and social complex, build a two-storey underground parking lot, while the availability of residential space is excluded. According to Vardanyan, the entire site, foreseen for building, with an area of about 20 thousand square meters, is divided between two investors in a ratio of 16.5 thousand square meters. m and 3.5 thousand square meters. m respectively.  He did not indicate the cost of the project.

Investors of the program are the company Old City in the face of the founders - Vardan Sarmakesh, as well as local entrepreneur Vahe Harutyunyan.Let us note that just the day before the government discussed another equally interesting project on the creation of the ethnographic quarter "Armenian village". The cost of the project will cost $ 100-150 million, it is planned to create the Ethnographic Array "Armenian Village" with the architectural style inherent in Armenian cities and villages: residential buildings, hotels, and halls with paintings and works of folk art (carpets, forging, ceramics, souvenirs ). "I am sure that the ethnographic quarter" Armenian Village "can become one of the sights of Yerevan, which will best represent the Armenian environment of the regions and cities of Armenia," Prime Minister of Armenia Karapetyan said at the meeting.  An international tender has already been announced, in which 4 companies applied for participation.
