ArmInfo. Armenia will join the Convention on Simplification of Temporary Importation (ATA Carnet Convention). The National Assembly of Armenia ratified the convention submitted by the Government of Armenia on September 12.
According to the deputy chairman of the Committee on State Revenues of the Republic Vakhtang Mirumyan, the document was signed in Istanbul on June 26, 1990 under the auspices of the World Trade Organization. 72 countries participate in the convention, including the countries of the EEMP (Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus), as well as all countries of the European Union. The participants of the agreement issue to their automobile carriers a temporary import book (ATA Carnet).
It will replace all accompanying documents - customs and transit declaration and pledge for the goods. The issuance of such books is administered by the World Customs Organization and the International Chamber of Commerce. They can be accredited by the corresponding Armenian organization (most likely, it will be the Chamber of Commerce and Industry), which will start issuing these books in Armenia. "Accession to the international convention will significantly simplify temporary imports in Armenia," said Vakhtang Mirumyan.
