Lev Energy LLC plans to build a cascade of small hydroelectric power stations with a capacity of 4.7 MW in the territory of the Moshatah-Tsitsernavank communities of the Kashatak district of Artsakh. On September 14, the Armenian government approved the company's application for exemption from customs duty on imported equipment and granting a three-year grace period for VAT payment.
According to the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia Suren Karayan, the cost of the investment program is 3.8 billion AMD, of which imported equipment, exempted from VAT - 877.5 million AMD. Based on the results of the program implementation, it is planned to create 9 workplaces with an average monthly salary of 115 thousand drams in 2018-2020.
During the first half of 2017 in the Republic of Artsakh, electricity production increased by 16.6 million kWh, or 9.87%, to 184.9 million kWh, compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Economy of the Republic, during the reporting period, electricity consumption amounted to 166.8 million kWh, up 13.47% or 19.8 million kWh compared to the same period. To date, 16 hydropower plants operate in Artsakh, including the Sarsang hydroelectric power station with an installed capacity of 50 MW, and 15 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 56.4 MW. Only in 2017 two small hydropower stations - "Dzhermajur" (10.3 MW) and "Viking" (1.8 MW) were put into operation. At this stage, another 9 small hydropower plants are being constructed, the total annual electricity output will be about 263.02 kWh.
