ArmInfo. The Ministry of Labor of Armenia intends to adjust the employment policy to increase the competitiveness of young mothers in the labor market. Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan stated at the Labor Fair organized on October 9 in Yerevan, the press service of the ministry told ArmInfo.
"According to the study, women's potential is not fully utilized, and today there are many impeding problems. Later in the employment policy, we will try to put emphasis on correcting this trend, "he stressed. In this regard, he reported that 73.7% of the total number of jobseekers are women.
The minister said that as of October 1 this year, in the city of Yerevan 14.6 thousand citizens are looking for a job, which is 10.4% lower than the figure of a year ago. The number of unemployed makes up 76.6% of the total number of job seekers or 11.2 thousand citizens (with an annual decline of 15.9%), 18% of them are young unemployed, 4.6% are disabled.
According to him, the unemployment rate in Yerevan was 29.1% (with an annual decline of 1.1%), which is dominated by specialists in the humanities, economics and management, education, construction and architecture, services, light industry.
Of the total number of unemployed, 42.9% fall on citizens who do not have a specialty. According to the educational qualification, the percentage of citizens with higher education and post-graduate education is 25.9% of the unemployed, with an incomplete higher and secondary vocational education - 23.2%.
From the point of view of the age category, 18% of the unemployed are citizens aged 16 to 29, 37.2% - 30- 44 years, 24.4% - 45-54 years, and 20.4% - over 55. Since the beginning of the year 1770 people have been employed in Yerevan.
To note, the Labor Fair takes place in Yerevan every year. This year, 60 employers participated, who offered 1,000 vacancies.
