ArmInfo. The work to create a joint Armenian-Russian air company continues, Russian co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told ArmInfo.
According to him, the work is carried out both by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and by the Government of Armenia. We discuss, in particular, the model of the future airline, which would ensure the profitability of the created structure. Initially, it was planned to create an airline with the involvement in the leasing of the fleet of new planes Sukhoi Civil Aircraft SSJ100, which are distinguished by reliability and comfort. However, the leasing deal for them is still quite expensive. Given the lack of passenger traffic, it will be difficult to ensure the airline's profitability with a new fleet of aircraft. For this reason, the issue of attracting already used airliners is being discussed with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft JSC, which will make it possible to ensure the efficiency of this airline. The scheme for acquiring airliners is currently being discussed, the Russian minister said. "The main thing is that the work is not stopped, it continues, and our producer and the Armenian side are looking for mutually acceptable solutions for the implementation of this project," Maxim Sokolov said.
To recall, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of Armenia Vahan Martirosyan told journalists about the intentions to create a joint airline earlier.
