Sargsyan: Yerevan intends to increase agricultural exports to Russia

ArmInfo. Yerevan intends to  increase agricultural exports to Russia. This was stated in an  interview with RIA Novosti by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

According to him, Armenia in the status of the country of the  Eurasian Economic Union primarily pursued precisely these goals, that  is, an increase in trade with the countries members of the Eurasian  Economic Union. "Last year, our export to Russia in the field of  agriculture increased by about 40%, this year, the figures are  slightly lower, but above 35%." We are developing a greenhouse in  Armenia at a good pace. but there is also the potential for even  greater growth.As for the types of agricultural products that we can  send to Russia, there are vegetables, fruits, canned food, cheese, a  lot, a lot, and the distinctive feature of this particular sector is,  that here we supply the ktsiyu not one of the company-monopolist, for  example, mining and processing in agriculture, we employ more than  350 thousand farms, so the income is distributed evenly and this is  very important ", -.. the head of Armenia said.

Answering the question whether Armenia can participate in the Russian  import substitution program, the Armenian leader stressed that it is  obligatory. According to him, there are also great opportunities  here.  "First and foremost, we have dealt with industrial cooperation  issues, and we will develop instrumentation, radio electronics,  machine-tool building, and machine-building." In this connection, one  must take into account that two-thirds of all Armenians live outside  of Armenia, they are well integrated into the society of countries  where they live, and they achieve good results, including in the  field of industry, they are interested in large markets, we already  have several joint ventures, and when I talk about the development of  an industrial ooperatsii, I mean the production of modern competitive  products ", - said the President of Armenia.

Speaking about trilateral economic cooperation between Russia,  Armenia and Iran, taking into account the possibility of the Eurasian  Economic Union, Sargsyan recalled that Armenia established a free  trade zone with the consent of the EAPC member countries right on the  border with Iran - in Meghri, and considering the fact that with that  There is also a free economic zone operating here, of course, there  are great opportunities. "We are negotiating with the Iranian side on  the signing of a free trade agreement within the framework of the  EEA, I think that the negotiations will reach an effective  conclusion, and we will sign the agreement," the Armenian President  noted. According to him, the terms of signing are possible in the  coming months.
