ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan received the delegation led by Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Zhang Wencai.
As the Government's press service told ArmInfo, noting that ADB is one of the most important partners of the Armenian government, Karapetyan stressed that over the past years, 25 large projects were implemented in the country, including involving representatives of the private sector. The Armenian Premier stressed the importance of implementing projects in the field of infrastructures, in particular, the North-South transport corridor; repair of the section of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Georgia interstate road (M- 6); road construction, as part of investment programs for sustainable urban development; introduction of a new transport system in Yerevan; the programs of the digital agenda of Armenia, etc. The Prime Minister noted that the Bank interests the Armenian government in the permanent development of cooperation with ADB, and the expansion of the amount of financing of the Armenian private sector.
ADB Vice President noted that the Bank is ready to continue assistance to the initiatives of the Armenian government, in such areas as infrastructure development, energy, healthcare, education, etc.
Wencai informed that the Bank is currently working on a program strategy until 2030 and added that it is necessary to discuss with Armenia all areas of cooperation. According to him, ADB is preparing to increase the amount of financing for the private sector of Armenia. It was also noted that the ADB team will arrive in Armenia in the coming days to provide consultations on the digital agenda.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, touched on the opportunities for involving the private sector in the construction of the North-South transport corridor.
