According to the press service of the Government, the Prime Minister noted the importance of periodic visits of co-rapporteurs to Armenia, which allow discussing current reforms in the country and the process of fulfilling the obligations of the RA. "From the very beginning of its membership in the PACE, Armenia has been involved in the work of various CoE bodies, we appreciate our cooperation and are grateful to the Council of Europe for expert support, including in the development of a package of legislative reforms." I think Armenia has gone a long way in fulfilling its commitments, as evidenced by the results of monitoring conducted by the Cabinet of Ministers of the CoE, "Karapetyan said.
In turn, PACE co-reporters Alan Mill and Giusepe Galatti agreed that Armenia has come a long way and noted that after the nationwide elections the country has entered a new stage of change.
The meeting discussed issues related to constitutional reforms, electoral processes, and the fight against corruption. Karen Karapetyan presented the works performed and performed, in the direction of democratization of the country. The Prime Minister noted that the fight against corruption is at the center of the government's attention, and in addition to concrete steps to reduce corruption risks, a number of achievements were also noted in the development of anti-corruption laws.
As part of the fight against corruption, the head of government underlined the substantial cooperation with the Group of States against Corruption and the Anti-Money Laundering Committee. Karen Karapetyan also said that at the moment the strategy and the plan of judicial and legal reforms of the Republic of Armenia for 2018-2023 are being developed.
The Prime Minister also referred to the opportunities for economic cooperation with various integration associations and individual countries, spoke about improving the business environment, promoting investment policy. "Our main goal is to provide every investor, both local and foreign, with all the necessary conditions for its activities.We pay special attention to the business environment and note that we have positive results over the past year, but at the same time we realize, that we have some weaknesses, but we are working to eliminate them, "Karapetyan said.
PACE co-reporters welcomed the reforms implemented by the Armenian Government in various fields.
