ArmInfo. Armenia is creating a modern data collection and processing center in accordance with international technical security standards of the sphere. On November 23, at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Armenian government approved a program for creating a database on the territory of the Republic of Armenia, a schedule of events, as well as a format for public- private cooperation.
As Minister of Transport, Communication and It of Armenia Vahan Martirosyan stated, presenting the draft decision, the modern Data Processing and Storage Center will allow to formulate unified standards and criteria in the provision of digital services, effectively implement the latest tools for the protection of information systems.
The creation of the center is planned to be implemented on the basis of public-private partnership, which will lead to significant economic benefits. In particular, as the minister explained, the private company undertakes to incur expenses for the creation of the Center. "The creation will provide additional revenues for the budget, will also increase Armenia's role in the international arena in the field of information technologies, ensuring a permanent inflow of foreign direct investments into the domestic economy," Martirosyan said.
According to the initial assessment, the project is estimated at $ 10 million. "The state will provide the infrastructure with the infrastructure and provide the building, and investments will be made by the private sector," explained the head of the Ministry of Transport, noting that the selection of relevant companies is scheduled for completion in August 2018.
As stated in the certificate of justification for the document, in recent years, significant growth in the field of electronic governance has been recorded in Armenia. In particular, information systems have been introduced into a number of state structures, allowing physical and legal entities to interact with the state apparatus electronically. The creation of the Center will be the next stage in the implementation of reforms in the electronic government system.
