Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia Hayk Harutyunyan stated this in a conversation with the ArmInfo correspondent at the margins of the 28th session of the Energy Charter Conference in Ashgabat.
"The first is a question of transit, the second is the protection of investments and the third is the development of the energy saving sphere." In these three areas, we are actively interacting with the Energy Charter, "he said, adding that the Charter held a number of events in Yerevan.
The Deputy Minister also informed that the Energy Charter has prepared a document on the evaluation of the investment environment in the energy sector of Armenia. "The assessment is quite high, Armenia, among the first countries that applied for and participated in this assessment.We hold a fairly high position in the energy sector.As for this event, this is an annual conference and we as full members of the Charter should participate in the them, "- concluded Harutyunyan.
Today in Ashgabat the 28th session of the Energy Charter was launched, which was attended by leaders and representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of the participating states and observer countries, a number of international and regional organizations. The work of the 28th session of the Energy Charter Conference will consist of two parts: statutory and ministerial. The agenda of the forum includes the results of the Energy Charter's activities this year, as well as a wide range of issues related to further improvement of its work and promotion of cooperation in order to ensure sustainable energy of the future. Particular attention will be paid to the practical implementation of international initiatives put forward by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the energy sector that have won the support of the world community. Within the framework of the forum it is planned to organize an industry exhibition. Based on the results of the 28th session of the Energy Charter Conference, the adoption of the Final Document is envisaged.
It should be reminded that at the end of last year Turkmenistan was elected as the presiding country in the Energy Charter Conference for 2017, and from December 2016 Ashgabat started work aimed at implementing its presidency. This work includes, among other things, the development and adoption of the Concept of the Chairmanship and other aspects, such as additional elements of interaction with the Charter Secretariat, joint preparatory and training activities, examination of the results and recommendations of the Japanese presidency in 2016, and , finally, the elaboration of the agenda, the main topic and the main content of the launching two-day Energy Charter Conference. As the country chairing in 2017, Turkmenistan will take all necessary measures and actions to summarize the conclusions and recommendations of states, international structures, representatives of the business community and the expert community with a view to their concentrated presentation in a document to be adopted at the final Energy Charter Conference.
