ArmInfo. In the Syunik region of Armenia, a number of investment programs are nearing completion. On December 6, the regional governor Vahe Hakobyan informed RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan about this.
He informed, in particular, that in May-June 2018 the Kapan airport will resume its work, for the modernization of which $ 2.5 million has been allocated. In addition, an airplane worth $ 5.5 million has been purchased.
The governor also noted the completion of works on the construction of a plant for the production of Italian pizza, about $ 500 thousand was spent on the project. 100 people will be employed at the enterprise, and Iran will become the main consumer of the plant's products.
At the end of January 2018, a knitting factory will begin its work in the community of Dekhi in Syunik region, for construction of which $ 500 thousand was spent, which will allow the permanent work of 100 more people, and the production of the enterprise will be exported to Ukraine. Currently, the Italian partners are negotiating the opening of a large knitting enterprise in Kapan, which will employ 600 people. In the second half of December a multibrand complex of shops and a cinema equipped with modern technology will be opened in Kapan.
The governor said that in 2017 the volume of investments in the region exceeded $ 10 million, it is planned that by the end of 2018 these volumes will double. Hakobyan stressed that Syunik Development and Investment Fund launched active work in the region, which together with Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine invested 2.5 billion AMD into social programs.
In addition, under the state program of assistance in leasing, farmers in the region received 10 units of agricultural machinery. He informed the prime minister about the works on the modernization of water supply systems. Karen Karapetyan instructed the governor together with the State Water Committee to carry out work to strengthen reservoirs and, together with a private businessman, to study the possibility of building new reservoirs.
