The presentation of the results of the annual environmental responsibility rating of mining and metallurgical companies of Russia was held on December 11 at the UN office in Russia, on the eve of the Congress on the Protection of Nature. The purpose of the rating is to increase the corporate responsibility of mining and metallurgical companies and create effective feedback mechanisms for the industry with stakeholders. The rating allows you to compare the information on the level of environmental responsibility of mining and metallurgical companies and the scale of their environmental impact, including biodiversity, and also gives an idea of the dynamics of changes in the industry as a whole. At the first stage of the project in 2015, WWF Russia, with the involvement of industry experts and environmental organizations, developed a methodology for rating, and in March 2017 it was tested. As a result of the analysis of the results of the pilot rating, significant changes were made in the calculation methodology.
