Polymetal was the winner in the rating of environmental responsibility of mining and metallurgical companies in Russia

ArmInfo. Polymetal was the winner in the environmental responsibility rating of the mining and metallurgical companies of Russia, annually prepared by the initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the UNDP/GEF/MNPR project. The company has divided the ranking in the rating with the Russian subdivision of the Canadian gold mining company Kinross Gold. The group of companies , the leading diamond miner in Yakutia and the Arkhangelsk region, retained the third place. In total the ecological rating of 2017 included 33 largest mining and metallurgical companies operating in Russia.

The presentation of the results of the annual environmental responsibility rating of mining and metallurgical companies of Russia was held on December 11 at the UN office in Russia, on the eve of the Congress on the Protection of Nature. The purpose of the rating is to increase the corporate responsibility of mining and metallurgical companies and create effective feedback mechanisms for the industry with stakeholders. The rating allows you to compare the information on the level of environmental responsibility of mining and metallurgical companies and the scale of their environmental impact, including biodiversity, and also gives an idea of the dynamics of changes in the industry as a whole. At the first stage of the project in 2015, WWF Russia, with the involvement of industry experts and environmental organizations, developed a methodology for rating, and in March 2017 it was tested. As a result of the analysis of the results of the pilot rating, significant changes were made in the calculation methodology.

The company Polymetal began operating in Armenia in 2015 with the acquisition of the gold mine Lichkvaz-Tey in the south, in the Syunik region. The company operates a concentrator in Kapan, acquired in April 2016.

Polymetal - one of the world's largest producers of primary silver, is one of the three leading gold mining companies in Russia. It conducts extraction of precious metals and geological exploration in Russia, Kazakhstan and Armenia. Polymetal Int independently carries out the whole complex of works on the development of ore deposits - from geological exploration to operation. In November 2011, Polymetal Int was the first Russian company to receive a premium listing on the London Stock Exchange (ticker POLY).
