ArmInfo. Armenian schoolchildren can remotely pass the qualifying stage of the physics and mathematics Olympiad "Rosatom". The winners of full-time and correspondence selection rounds will have an opportunity to take part in the final stage of the Olympics, which will be held in Yerevan early next year.
The Rosatom Olympiad in Physics and Mathematics is included in the List of School Olympiads approved by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, and it allows to gain additional benefits when entering the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. The format of the Olympics involves two stages - selection and final. At the same time, the qualifying stage is divided into two rounds. The first round was held at the sites of Russian and foreign universities. In Yerevan, the first qualifying round was held at the end of October at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia.
Armenia and Russia have a long and fruitful history in the field of personnel training for the nuclear industry, so we gladly provided the venue for the qualifying round of the Olympics, "said Aram Gevorgyan, deputy director of the Institute of Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering of the National Research Institute. More than 100 pupils of 10-12 classes of specialized physical and mathematical and general education schools were given the opportunity to perform competitive assignments. "
Schoolchildren, who did not have time to participate in the internal qualifying round in Yerevan, will be able to solve tasks remotely within the framework of the correspondence round, which will last until the end of December. Thanks to remote access, all pupils of grades 7-11 of schools in Russia and CIS countries can take part in the Olympiad "Rosatom". Among them are pupils from Armenia who previously could not come to Yerevan for a full-time tour.
According to the head of the Department of Olympiads NNIU MEPhI Maxim Delov, last year almost 20 thousand schoolchildren from hundreds of cities of Russia and CIS countries took part in the Olympiad. Among the best participants were schoolchildren from Yerevan, who, by the results of the Olympics, had the opportunity to enter the NNIU MEPhI.
The tasks within the remote tour will be available for passage through December 31, 2017. Results of full- time and correspondence selection rounds will be announced exactly in a month-January 31, 2018. About 45% of the participants will be admitted to the final assignments in Yerevan in February-March 2018.
To take part in the Olympics, you need to register on the site of the NNIU MEPhI at org.mephi.ru. To complete the tasks, one attempt is made, the time of passage is limited to 3 hours for each Olympiad. Therefore, the organizers recommend starting to perform tasks only if there is the required free time. According to a similar scenario, another industry Olympiad is taking place - the Engineering Olympiad of schoolchildren in physics among students of grades 9-11. Assignments include elements of applied mechanics and engineering, technical thermodynamics, electrical engineering, electronics, nuclear technology. The tasks of the Olympiad do not go beyond the school course of physics, but they have a pronounced engineering character.
Detailed information about the Olympics and participation formats is available on the website of the MEPhI NIHU at https://mephi.ru/entrant/events/olimpiads/.
