In the first working week of 2018, the dram strengthened to the dollar, weakening towards the euro

ArmInfo. The currency interbank of Armenia decreased from January 8 to 12, compared to the last week of 2017, only by 0.3%. Moreover, during the week deals were made daily, but large volumes at the currency interbank market "lit up" on Monday and Tuesday with the gradual extinction of the players' "appetites" by Friday.

At the same time, interest in dollar and ruble transactions in the intra-bank foreign exchange market against the backdrop of multidirectional dynamics of the euro transactions with the manifestation of interest precisely in the buying up of the European currency. The exchange currency market, after a silence in 2017 for seven months, was empty and in the first working week of 2018. As a result, the dram against the dollar in the first working week of 2018 began to strengthen - from 484.5 to 483 AMD/USD1, weakening to the euro from 579 to 582 AMD/EUR1, while continuing devaluation to the ruble - from 8.4 to 8, 5 AMD/RUR1. A year earlier, on December 12, 2017, the exchange rate of the dram to the dollar was 485.5 AMD/USD1, to the euro - 514 AMD/EUR1, and to the ruble - 8.1 AMD/RUR1, which in comparison with current rates indicates the annual devaluation of the dram to euro and ruble at revaluation to the dollar.

As the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia told ArmInfo, on January 8-12, inclusive operations were conducted on the currency interbank market in the amount of $ 18.950 million at the weighted average rate of 485.09 AMD/USD, with the maximum volumes falling on Monday and Tuesday - $ 6.6 million and $ 7 In parallel with this, in the intra-bank foreign exchange market, the trend of buying/selling the dollar was changed from the last week of 2017 from an ascending 35-27% to a downward trend of 56- 44%, with a change in the dynamics of euro buying from a 25.3% decline by 20% growth and deterioration in the sales trend from 42% growth to 62% decline, against the background of the which the buying/selling of the ruble has changed the dynamics from 55.9-5.7% growth to a 21-17.3% decline. As a result, $ 76.4 million was purchased at the average exchange rate of 483.55 AMD/USD1, 15.6 million euro at the average exchange rate of 577.66 AMD/EUR1, and 1.6 billion rubles at the average rate of 8.39 AMD/RUR1, and sold $ 100.05 million at an average rate of 485.25 AMD/USD1, 15.1 million euro at an average rate of 582.77 AMD/EUR1, and 398.2 million rubles at an average rate of 8.53 AMD/RUR1.
