ArmInfo. The Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia headed by Minister Ignaty Arakelyan, on January 15, discussed steps aimed at implementing the orders of the President of the Republic of mitigating the effects of a number of goods prices, particularly as a result of price increases for diesel fuel and pesticides.
As the press service of the ministry told ArmInfo, Ignaty Arakelyan, the rise in price of diesel fuel can not significantly affect the cost of agricultural products. At the same time, as the minister noted, in the near future, a slight decrease in the price of diesel fuel is expected due to the reduction of the excise tax. In any case, as Arakelyan reminded, this year the programs of the state agricultural activities will be continued.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Robert Makaryan touching the rise in prices in the fuel market, said that if the price increase significantly affect the cost of agricultural goods, subsidy program will be developed. "For example, according to preliminary estimates, the rise in price of fuel will lead to an increase in potato production costs by only 2 AMD, we will analyze the situation, monitor the market prices of agricultural products in the case of risks have the appropriate commission of the president regarding the Assistance to representatives of socially vulnerable groups.." - he added.
Since January 1, 2018, there has been a significant increase in prices for a number of products, including poultry, oil, gasoline, liquefied gas, spirts, eggs, sugar, etc. In addition, in the near future, price increase of tobacco products is also expected. Earlier it was reported that the rise in price was due to the increase in customs duties for more than 800 types of goods. The rise in prices is mainly due to the fact that from January 1, 2018, the new Customs Code of the EAEU came into force. This implies an increase in customs duties on goods from countries that are not members of the EAEU.
