ArmInfo. The metallurgical industry of Armenia increased production by 11.3% per annum in 2017, against the 11.1% decline for 2016.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in 2017 the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia increased by 1.1% compared to 2016, amounting to 6,588 tons. Only in December ferromolybdenum was produced 490 tons, which is 15.1% less than the November volume.
In Jan-Dec 2017, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 2.8% to 10,961 tonnes, with only a decline of 10.9% in December alone to 828 tonnes. The production of converter (rough) copper decreased in 2017 by 6.7% - to 12,051 tons. At the same time, in the monthly section, the production of converter (rough) copper increased by 8.8% - to 1 216 tons. The production of copper concentrate increased by 10.3% in 2017 to 428.5 thousand tons, and only in December the volume of production amounted to 34.8 thousand tons, with a monthly decline of 7.9%. Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes in the statistical service data for the reporting period are absent, whereas in 2016 367 tons of molybdenum briquettes with an annual decline of 50.9% were produced.
The production of aluminum foil in 2017 compared with 2016 increased by 14.4% - to 33,181 tons. Only in December, the output of aluminum foil fell by 6.3% - to 2,832 tons. The production of aluminum rolled products in 2017 increased several times to 543 tons.
The production of steel pipes increased in January-December 2017 by 36.2% to 10,922.7 tons, with a monthly growth of 16.1% to 1,088 tons. The production of zinc concentrate increased by 22.2% per annum in 2017 - up to 9,640 tons, of which 1,085 tons were produced in December, with a monthly growth of 2.2 times.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
In 2016, the metallurgical industry of Armenia reduced production by 11.1% per annum, against a 0.5% decline in 2015. In particular, the production of molybdenum briquettes was reduced by 50.9%, aluminum rolled products by 47.7%, steel pipes by 22.6%, zinc concentrate by 30.3% and aluminum foil by 2.1%, while in 2016, growth was recorded for the production of ferromolybdenum - by 16.9%, convertor (rough) copper - by 11.4%, copper concentrate - by 23.1%, and molybdenum concentrate by 2.1%.
