US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Richard Mills welcomed the reforms initiated by the Armenian government and confirmed the US readiness to continue supporting this process. "The US government through various USAID programs supports an ambitious reform program of the Armenian government aimed at creating favorable conditions for democracy and investment," he said during a meeting with RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
As the press service of the Armenian government reports, issues related to the agenda of the Armenian- American relations were discussed at the meeting. In this context, the interlocutors touched upon the next week's presentation-discussion devoted to the cooperation of Armenia, USA and USAID, during which the programs implemented in various spheres, as well as ongoing initiatives and registered results will be presented.
The Head of Government stressed the importance of effective bilateral cooperation, within which joint programs contribute to the sustainable development of Armenia. "We highly appreciate the USAID-funded projects that contribute to the economic growth of Armenia, the strengthening of democratic institutions, the successful implementation of the fight against corruption and the improvement of management effectiveness," he said.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the trade turnover between Armenia and the United States increased by 68.2% in 2017 to 204.8 million, due to the growth of exports by 76.5% to 68.5 million and imports - by 64.3% to 136.3 million.
