ArmInfo. Armenia stresses the importance of the consistent development of interparliamentary cooperation with Switzerland, and is interested in developing bilateral ties in all areas. The Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan said this at a meeting with the chairman of the National Council of Switzerland (lower house of parliament) Dominik de Buman on the eve of the meeting with the press service of the Armenian government.
"In Davos, I already had the opportunity to state the importance of implementing steps aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between Armenia and Switzerland, in this context I want to emphasize once again the importance of an organized business forum," Karen Karapetyan said. Dominique de Buman, in his turn, noted that the Armenian-Swiss business forum organized in Yerevan turned out to be fruitful. In particular, the prospects of the Armenian-Swiss economic interaction and joint programs were discussed.
He found the direction of cooperation to be perspective, such as agriculture, including winemaking. Dominique de Buman informed that one Swiss winemaking company, which has great traditions, has already established partnership relations with its Armenian counterparts. "I am sure that in the field of agriculture we will be able to establish good relations, exchange experience, jointly implement various programs, since there are necessary conditions and reliable production in Armenia," Dominique de Buman said. He also pointed to the importance of cooperation in the field of renewable energy, in particular, in the export of solar panels, as well as in the field of pharmaceuticals and tourism. According to the head of the lower house of the Swiss parliament, Armenia can become an attractive country for the Swiss business.
During the meeting, the RA Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Swiss Development Agency for assistance in implementing various programs in Armenia. "We are open for cooperation and ready to assist the Swiss companies. In 2017, the trade turnover between our countries has grown 3.6 times, and therefore it is necessary to conduct consistent work to maintain these rates." I am confident that Armenia for Swiss capital can become an interesting country, referring to the availability of trade privileges with the EEA, the EU, the United States and Iran, "the head of the Armenian Government said.
