ArmInfo. Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lakota. The parties discussed a number of issues related to information technology, transport and road construction.
In particular, according to the press service of the Ministry of Transport, Vahan Martirosyan touched upon the issue of the construction of the southern section of the "North-South Road Corridor Investment Program". He noted that he would welcome the participation of French road construction companies in the contest of the road construction program, which is planned in the format of public-private partnership.
Vahan Martirosyan also presented to the ambassador the program for the implementation of a unified transport network in Armenia, expressing the hope that French companies will also take part in the contest for the selection of a single network operator.
The head of the Ministry of Transport also referred to the possibilities of cooperation in the field of telecommunications and cyber security, as well as the creation of a regional data center in Armenia. According to the minister, he will be happy to see French IT research laboratories in Armenia.
The French ambassador, in turn, stressed that the high level of IT industry development in Armenia was noticed in France.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the details of the 17th summit of the Francophonie, which will be held in Armenia in October. As the minister informed, cable television service providers have already included the broadcasting of the French-language TV 5 channel in their programs.
