The Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia Suren Karayan and the Ambassador of Belarus to the RA discussed the development of economic ties between the two countries on February 23, as well as the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting of the Armenian-Belarusian intergovernmental commission.
In particular, according to the press service of the RA Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, Suren Karayan and Igor Nazaruk discussed prospects for cooperation around the establishment of an enterprise for the collection of vehicles. It was noted that in the near future, the Belarusian working group will visit Armenia in order to strengthen cooperation in transport and logistics.
The sides touched upon the issues of import substitution of goods within the borders of the EAEU.
Minister Karayan and Ambassador Nazaruk also noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Bank for Development of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Belarus for January-December 2017 reached $ 44.6 million, with an annual growth of 21.5%. In the trade turnover of the two countries, the Armenian export amounted to $ 6.9 million, a decline of 48.3%, and imports to Armenia grew by 61.7% to $ 37.7 million.
