ArmInfo. The Armenian government at the meeting on March 1 approved the concept of creating the "Smart City". The document, Vahan Martirosyan, Minister of Transport, Communications and IT of Armenia stated, establishes a vision, purpose, as well as the foundations and directions for the creation of the "Smart City" and the expected results.
In particular, according to the minister, "Smart City" is seen as a continuously developing urban settlement, where modern technological solutions are used to provide conditions for the safe and comfortable life of citizens and visitors of the city. At the same time, effective implementation of various development programs is envisaged to equally meet the needs of different social groups, taking into account all possible man-made risks arising from human activities and climate change.
In general, Vahan Martirosyan explained, the goal of the concept is to solve problems and confront challenges on the basis of innovative approaches, as well as ensure stable urban development and participation of citizens in the management and development of the city. It is also expected to form a secure urban environment with the use of the latest IT solutions.
According to the draft decision, the financing of the Concept is considered possible in accordance with the procedure established by the RA Law "On Local Self-Government Bodies", as well as due to foreign investments and other sources not prohibited by law.
